On the approach from CA to PA, I used it as a carry-on. It work nicely into the overhead and that i did not get any slack from the TSA concerning its size (it is that the largest size for a carry-on). On the approach back, I checked the bag as a result of I had a lot of stuff and had to expand it. It created it through the hands of the TSA with none tears, rips, etc. I most likely may have gotten away with not checking it, however I did not feel like making an attempt to shove it into the overhead bin. I was amazed at the quantity of stuff I may get into it. I packed for every week with no issues. i prefer that it's considerably lighter than most of the opposite bags items I checked out. travelpro luggage helps once you try to induce it into the overhead on the plane. The wheels are durable and it absolutely was terribly balanced after I was lugging it through the airport. The one factor i used to be involved regarding was that the pull-out handle looks alittle wobbly.
